Oh, wow.  This looks yummy!  Do you all remember the Jello Poke Cake Recipe I posted quite awhile back?  Well, this is a new variation.  Make sure to check out this Key Lime Pie Poke Cake Recipe here.  It’s courtesy of Betty Crocker!!  If you plan on making this then grab this printable coupon for $0.50/2 Betty Crocker Cake and Icing.

I’ll be making this for a House Party event I’m gonna have.  Well, at least I’m gonna try to anyway.  I may get brave and take photos to show you all…teehehee.  Wish me luck!

There are a couple of online spots that I wanted to share today.  Both of these are places that I just keep going back to!!  If you have any places online that are just fun places to visit on occasion or daily even, please share them with us!

I’ve talked about Bakerella before.  I love to make her cupcake pops because they’re so unique and just plain old fun to make.  She likes to make new creations and I always love when I see the new thing that she makes.  If your kids are fans, then you might want to check these little Winnie the Pooh pops out.  She gives you the complete run down on how to make them.  If you’re a crafty person and you love a challenge in the kitchen, then go ahead and give these a whirl.  They’d make super cute party favors!!

This next place I have also mentioned before.  My friend Jeri, writes The Beautiful Mess blog.  I love short stories that are about how life used to be when we were growing up.  It always makes me feel good.  She wrote a sweet story called Longing for Summerland which made me smile so big when I read it.  Thanks, Jeri!

Once again, share any fun spots or nice places for easy reading with us.  We’d love to hear!

Today I wanted to share a couple of recipes with you that I found.  Most of the ingredients are things that you may already have stocked in your kitchen.  Hopefully, the other ingredients that you have to buy you can find with a good sale.

Since pork chops have been on sale at Kroger and Jay-C, I thought most people would be ready to throw them on a grill so I found this really cool recipe for Grilled Cuban Pork Chops.  If you like to cook then you probably have these ingredients already.  It calls for:   pork chops, grated lime peel, cumin seed or ground cumin, cracked black pepper, salt, oil, and garlic.

This next recipe is for the Peanut Butter Rocky Road Brownies….did you just gain 5 pounds??  Oh, goodness.  I hear angels sing when brownies are mixed with peanut butter!!  For those of you who don’t know me, my family can tell you that I have a HUGE sweet tooth and am most definitely a “carb-aholic”.  So, this recipe will be tried out by yours truly!  Most of the ingredients are things that most households consider “staples” so you shouldn’t have to shop for much of it if any.

If you have any thrifty and fun recipes that you’d like to share, leave us a comment in the section below this post!  We always love new recipes!!

This week I made several stops.  I had a really good week and I didn’t realize how good of a week I really had until I sat down and figured the math.  Keeping in mind that I had several transactions and I got ECB’s and RR’s and used those to pay for other transactions but below is an overall rundown:  **Sorry no photos this week.  I’ve misplaced my camera…eeek.

2 - Crest Pro Health Rinse
2 – Folding Camping Chairs
2 – Huggies Diapers
2 – Healthy Choice Fresh Mixers
1 – U by Kotex
4 – Covergirl Double Lip Shine
(I watch too many America’s Next Top Model re-runs)
4 – Carefree Liners
1 – Stride Gum
1 – CVS Garbage Bags
(I accidentally got the smelly ones and they choke me to death)
2 – Schick Hydro Razors
1 – EOS Shave Cream
2 – Reach Toothbrushes
2 – Walgreens Plastic Forks
(my son’s birthday party is coming up)
1 – Kroger Whipped Topping
4 – Bags of Cheetos Salsa Picante
(those are goo-ooo-oooood…not too hot either)
2 – Silk Soymilk
1 – Kroger Vegetable Oil
1 – Box of Sunrise Capri Sun Juice
2 – Kroger Gelatin
8 – Bottles of Vitamin Water
(don’t get the Zero kind…yuck)
9 – Hormel Pepperoni
**These are normally $3.59 at Kroger.  These were marked way down to $0.49 each, plus I had a few coupons!  They’re all in my freezer!!  Thanks to my big sis Bekki.  She eye-balled them and called as fast as she could!!!
1 – 5 pound package of Ground Beef
1 – Fiber One Key Lime Pie Yogurt
1 – Kingsford Charcoal 16.6 lb. Bag

Also, I got 4 Oscar Mayer Lunchables FREE tonight at Walmart.  The coupon was going to expire today so I HAD to use it and Walmart price matched Krogers sale.  Another great deal I got this week is a box of 60 Rayovac AA batteries for $9.99 at Home Depot!  These weren’t on sale at our local Home Depot, but a friend of mine was in Chicago and he picked a box of these up for me!  I think we’re all set with batteries for the year!

So after I added all of these trips and transactions up, my total before coupons, ECB’s, and RR’s was $203.63.  After my coupons, ECB’s, and RR’s my total oop (out of pocket) was $63.82!!  Plus, I have in my pocket still $20.00 in RR’s and ECB’s to use on my next shopping trips!

Leave a comment below letting us all know what great deals you got this week!!

Today is Thrifty Thursday!  This is the day that I like to share thrifty tips for your household to save you money!!  I have a few small tips today that might help a little.

When you go to fast food restaurants, do you save the napkins, condiments, and/or plastic utensils??  Well, I never used to.  When I got home with the food I’d just throw it all away with the stuff still in the bags!!  {eeeeeek}  Now, I keep all that stuff.  I have a section in my kitchen where I keep these items.  Now, when I run low on papertowels or ketchup…I’ll have extra stashed!  Also, the plastic utensils would come in handy for the kids to pack for their lunches at school!!

One other tip that I wanted to share is a little more complex.  If you have never heard the phrase “freezer cooking” or “once a week/month cooking” then you might be interested!  I will say that this probably doesn’t work for everyone but some folks find that it saves alot of TIME and MONEY!

The idea is to take 1 day and cook up enough meals for a week or some even cook for the whole month.  I think I’d rather start out with a week…hahaha.  But, you cook a week’s worth of meals and freeze them in either freezer bags or containers with lids.  Mark them with a date and name of the meal.  Each day when it’s time to eat, just thaw and reheat and voila!  It saves time daily from cooking in the kitchen and also you’ve ensured that the groceries you’ve bought will be eaten and not go to waste!

I personally haven’t tried this method of cooking but I have been interested in learning more about it the last few weeks.  It has been talked about alot on television shows.  One in particular “The Biggest Loser” which is one of my fave shows!!  I think that this method of cooking works extremely well for people who have large families or households where both parents work outside the home!  If you’d like to learn more about it, check out FrugalMom.net Also, I found several interesting and “normal everyday” recipes for bulk cooking and freezing here at MomsBudget.com .

If you already cook and freeze this way, I’d love it if you would leave a comment below this post giving us any tips or recipes that you use!!  Or if you know of any other great websites to visit that talks or teaches about this subject!

Today is Wednesday, and that means Web-Tacular Wednesday here at Sweet Pennies from Heaven.  Wednesday is the day that I like to share fun places online!!  I’m gonna share 2 places with you today!

The first place I’d like to share is a little spot called The Vintage Pearl.  This lady makes handmade jewelry that is personalized.  Her items are absolutely beautiful!  I actually have a Gift Card for her store and I can’t wait to use it!  I’m having a fairly difficult time picking something out!  You can visit her website here and also make sure to stop by and check out her blog!

______________________________________________________

This next little spot is once again my sister, Mikki’s blog Strawberries n’ Apronstrings!  If you haven’t checked out her writing then you should take some time to read.  She has written some new short stories that are amazing!  These stories portray the lives of our earlier generations!  Mikki has a way with her words of placing you back in those olden days of hard work and limitless love!

If you have any fun or cool places online to visit, share them with us.  We’d love to hear!

Today is Tuesday and that means Tasteful Tuesday here at Sweet Pennies from Heaven!  Tuesday is the day that I like to share some fun and creative recipes using items that have been bought on sale {with coupons} in the last couple of weeks!  When you start shopping SMART you’ll notice that your shelves begin filling up and you want to make sure that you’re using all these foods before they expire or go stale!!!

This first recipe is something that just sounded interesting to me and I’m always up for trying new *sweets*!!  Check out this recipe for Irish Potato Chocolate Cake.  **Note that the author added a quick tip on using regular sugar in place of the fine sugar.  You’ll have to scroll all the way down to find that.  I can’t wait to try this recipe!!!

This photo is just one I found of chocolate potato cake.  It isn’t from this recipe but I just wanted to give you an idea of what it would look like.  This one was baked in a bundt pan and also has powdered sugar on top instead of chocolate frosting.

This Pillsbury Chicken Bacon Quesadillas recipe looks so yummy!  This is actually a recipe from one of the Pillsbury Bake Off Contestants.  We love to make quesadillas here at our house so we’ll be trying these soon (hopefully this week)!

If you have any fun and creative recipes that you’d like to share, just leave them in the comments section under this post!  We’d all love to hear!
