How many times have you had a round about idea of how much your total was going to be at checkout and then it ends up being MORE than you expected??? Sometimes we play it off and think, ahh…I didn’t figure in the sales tax, that must’ve been it! Well, just so you know…especially as a couponer, you should always check your receipts!! Nine times out of ten, there will be an error and if your total is alot more than you had figured in your head, more than likely they owe you money!
I understand that we can end up throwing a few extra things into our cart that wasn’t on our shopping list, but you can still have a close figure in your head before checking out. I don’t like standing in the store looking at my receipts, so I go ahead and head out to the car and use the calculator on my cellphone
! I do however, re-figure in my head what my total is going to be just in case I have added a few extras that weren’t on my list.
There were 2 instances during my last shopping trip where they owed me cash back! The first time, the girl at Walgreens had me convinced that extra sales tax was the culprit but come to find out, a BOGO Free sale didn’t ring up as free for the 2nd item. The same instance happened the 2nd time at CVS. I told the young kid, are those (Summers Eve products) not ringing up BOGO Free? He says, “No, probably because they’re already on sale so they won’t let you have them BOGO Free!” ugh. I then replied, “Even though they’re on sale, the ad states that I am supposed to get them BOGO Free.” He then fixed the error but if I hadn’t been paying attention or knowing in my head what the total was supposed to be, I could have been taken for almost an extra $14.00 in one shopping trip.
So, if you don’t keep an eye on your receipts then this could happen to YOU time after time. This is why it pays to:
1. Know a “round about” total before checking out
2. Check those receipts!!!
3. Don’t be afraid to let them know that they’ve made a mistake…it’s YOUR money, NOT theirs!
Blessings~
