Web-tacular Wednesday

There are a couple of online spots that I wanted to share today.  Both of these are places that I just keep going back to!!  If you have any places online that are just fun places to visit on occasion or daily even, please share them with us!

I’ve talked about Bakerella before.  I love to make her cupcake pops because they’re so unique and just plain old fun to make.  She likes to make new creations and I always love when I see the new thing that she makes.  If your kids are fans, then you might want to check these little Winnie the Pooh pops out.  She gives you the complete run down on how to make them.  If you’re a crafty person and you love a challenge in the kitchen, then go ahead and give these a whirl.  They’d make super cute party favors!!

This next place I have also mentioned before.  My friend Jeri, writes The Beautiful Mess blog.  I love short stories that are about how life used to be when we were growing up.  It always makes me feel good.  She wrote a sweet story called Longing for Summerland which made me smile so big when I read it.  Thanks, Jeri!

Once again, share any fun spots or nice places for easy reading with us.  We’d love to hear!

Today is Wednesday, and that means Web-Tacular Wednesday here at Sweet Pennies from Heaven.  Wednesday is the day that I like to share fun places online!!  I’m gonna share 2 places with you today!

The first place I’d like to share is a little spot called The Vintage Pearl.  This lady makes handmade jewelry that is personalized.  Her items are absolutely beautiful!  I actually have a Gift Card for her store and I can’t wait to use it!  I’m having a fairly difficult time picking something out!  You can visit her website here and also make sure to stop by and check out her blog!

This next little spot is once again my sister, Mikki’s blog Strawberries n’ Apronstrings!  If you haven’t checked out her writing then you should take some time to read.  She has written some new short stories that are amazing!  These stories portray the lives of our earlier generations!  Mikki has a way with her words of placing you back in those olden days of hard work and limitless love!

If you have any fun or cool places online to visit, share them with us.  We’d love to hear!

Today is Wednesday, that means Web-tacular Wednesday!!  Wednesday is the one day through the week that I like to share fun places online that I have visited!  I must have just been in a gardening kinda mood this week.  My mom always said to wait until May 15th to plant flowers in case of frost.  So, about this time of the month I start getting antsy and ready to get my hands dirty!

I don’t have a green thumb at all.  One year, I did have some really good luck with some impatiens, but usually my flowers just kinda “get by”.  Towards the end of the summer everything starts looking a little spindly (spelling?).

One place I wanted to share with you is Gardening for Dummies.  This website has alot of articles about different types of gardening.  From vegetables to flowers, and from using chemicals to natural organic gardening!  Alot of good information.

This next website I found while I was searching for ideas about “container gardening”.  I’ve always found container gardening a little interesting.  Garden Guides has alot of useful information, especially about this subject.  The first page explains about flowers in container and then if you’ll click on the 2nd page, they explain more about vegetable container gardening!

Strawberries are in season just about everywhere right now.  The best place to get strawberries is at your local Farmer’s Markets.  One little piece of advice that I can give about strawberries, is always remember…bigger isn’t always better!!  I have always noticed that the smaller strawberries are usually sweeter than the larger strawberries.  Not always, but usually.

It always seems the larger ones just aren’t ripened enough and what do we do when we gettem’ home??  We eat them.  We can’t be patient enough to let them ripen!!  To find out how to properly freeze your strawberries for the winter, visit HERE.

For just some fun and feel good reading, check out this blog.  I love the name of it.  The Beautiful Mess is written by a very dear and sweet friend of the family named Jeri Shantz!  It’s been many years since I have seen her, but thankfully through “social networking” it’s like those years in between have melted away.  Her family holds many spots in my heart and I love them all.  They are the kind of folks who just make this world a better place!

If any of you have any interesting or fun places to visit online, please let us know!  We’d love to hear about them too!

Blessings~

Today is Wednesday.  That means Web-tacular Wednesday!!  There are a couple of websites that are pretty cool places to check out.  If you know of any fun and interesting websites, feel free to share them with us!

Swagbucks:

If you have never checked out Swagbucks or if you don’t understand the concept then let me tell you a little bit about it.  Swagbucks is basically a search engine that pays you in “Swagbucks” randomly for your searches.  You won’t earn with every search, but usually anywhere from 2 or more times a day you’ll get swagbucks with normal searching.  Fridays are the Mega Swagbucks Days.  You’re more apt to get more Swagbucks while searching on that day.  They also usually give Swag Codes daily so you can earn more that way too!  You can download their toolbar so you have instant access to your Swagbucks account and search through Swagbucks easily to earn more.

You can redeem prizes with your Swagbuck.  The most popular prize is the $5 gift card to Amazon.  That only costs 450 Swagbucks and believe me, it takes NO TIME to get 450 Swagbucks.  Right now, I have 1,389 Swagbucks which I can redeem for $15 in Amazon gift cards!!!  I’m hoarding mine up..teehee.  There are tons of other prizes you can redeem…even computers!!

It’s fun and simple and a great way to earn some extra cash for doing normal, everyday searches online.  Other search engines don’t pay to search, so why not use Swagbucks.  If you’d like to learn more about it, check out Swagbucks here and just give it a try.  I’m sure you’ll enjoy it!!  Oh, yeah…you’ll get 30 Swagbucks just for signing up!!

Etsy.com:

Have you ever shopped through Ebay??  Well, Etsy is similar in that they have a large variety of items to peruse and buy.  Now, you’ll buy things outright from Etsy.  It’s not an auction type platform.  BUT the cool thing is that all of the items for sale on Etsy are handmade items by their sellers!!  It’s not easy to find things that are handmade anymore and that’s why I love this website!!

There is a very large variety of things sold on Etsy.  Things from jewelry, clothing, primitive home decor (which I Love), baby items, and well, you just name it…it’s probably there!!  I totally respect the idea of things being handmade in this day and time.  It’s so much easier to just buy things than to make, but it’s the creativity that means more to me and the love and passion that is put into all things handmade.

So, I invite you to check out Etsy.com and just see what all those talented crafters have to offer!  This picture below shows some handmade yarn that a crafter made.  Check out her Etsy page here.

Once again, if you know of any cool and fun places online let us know.  I’m always interested in checking out new sites!!

Blessings~

If you have never been to FlyLady’s website, you really should go.  I have visited her site off and on for years!!  She always shares the best tips on house cleaning and organizing!!  I love her philosophy on shoes and shining sinks!!  There’s a TON of information so don’t try to read it all in one day!  It’s definately a place worth putting in your favorites!!

I just found this next place a couple of weeks ago called Babyhalfoff.com.  They feature an item every single day that is 50% off or more.  They sell the coolest baby items I have ever seen!  You can sign up to receive daily emails from them with what the 50% off item is that day.  I have posted deals of theirs a couple of times and I will continue to do so!  I just love their stuff and you’ll always find a bargain!

This next place is called Maryjanesfarm.org.  My sister, Mikki, led me to this place.  I have visited a few times and I love the feel of this website.  They also have a forum that you can join called mary janes farmgirls!!  You don’t have to live in the country or literally live on a farm to enjoy this website!  It’s a fun and informative website about topics from organic farming to crafting!  They have 4 different blogs as well.  The blogs you can visit are:  Suburban Farmgirls, City Farmgirls, Rural Farmgirls, and Ranch Farmgirls

Craftown.com is a great place to visit as well.  If you are a crafter, then this is the place for you.  They have alot of crafting ideas, patterns, kids ideas and you name it!  They also teach crocheting and knitting!

This is the beginning of my Web-tacular Wednesday series.  Wednesdays are going to be dedicated to websites that I feel are just fun places to be.  That’s why I want to share them with you!  These websites may have to do with thrifty living and some may not.

Today’s sites vary from thrifty and creative to just heart touching short stories!

Have you ever heard of  “Cup Cake Pops“?  Well, these are super CUTE and very fun to make.  These are a sweet creation by Bakerella!  I have made these a couple of times.  Once for a Relay for Life event, and the other time I made them with my neice for her kids’ birthday party!!  Make sure to check these out and try your hand at it.  It takes a little bit to get the hang of it, but once you do….you’re on a roll!  Visit Bakerella.com for the recipe for these creative pops!  **I did have to tweak the recipe a little for my own preferences.  For instance, I used a little less frosting than the recipe calls for and I also didn’t have the cookie cutter that they use so instead I just used my hand to mold the shape needed!

____________________________________________________________

My sister, Mikki, is a very talented writer.  She loves to write short stories, especially true ones about our heritage and sentimental things!  If you’ll take a minute, stop by her blog Strawberries n’ Apronstrings for a visit.  Two very sweet stories to read are Grandma’s Dirty Knees which is a true story about our grandmother.  That story actually got published in Mary Jane’s Farm Magazine!  Way to Go Mikki!!  Another sweet read of hers is Pure in Heart which is about the profound meaning behind a simple cracked teacup!  I promise you’ll love her stories about simple things that mean so much!  Just some plain ole’ feel good reading!  Enjoy!

It’s Spring Time and most of us are outside trying to figure out new ways to spruce things up a little, right?  Well, if you need some pretty lighting for your backyard getaway and if you have a creative side then you might enjoy these glass jar lanterns!!  Visit GingerbreadSnowflakes to find out how to make these super cute lanterns.  This is a SMART way to put good use to all those glass jars that you swore you were gonna use to do canning, but never got a roundtuit!!!  Thanks for sharing this  Crystal at The Thrifty Mama!

If you have any websites that you just love spending time at, I’d love to hear about and share them!

Blessings~
